How do you enter a hypnotic state in sports

In this article, you will learn how to enter a hypnotic state in sports.

Aim: You are going to create a state of self-hypnosis using your imagination.

For this, you will have to imagine what hypnosis looks like for you. You do not need to know how hypnosis works to do this exercise. On the contrary, the more the exercise is inspired by your creativity, the more effective it will be.

Just start by asking yourself these questions:

  • What would it feel like to enter a state of hypnosis?
  • How would it begin?
  • What is the first sensation that is involved?

For you, it may feel like relaxation, slowing down your breathing, a sense of stillness, or a feeling of lightness. Would it be in the thoughts or the body? Would you start to close your eyes or keep them open? What happens next?

The answer is different for every person, and the most important thing is to experience it without judgment. It is not a question of finding a solution but of inventing something. And above all, you must experience the answers you find.

If you imagine that it begins with the relaxation of the shoulders, then do this: relax your shoulders, feel what changes, and ask yourself another question: "I relax my shoulders. Now that I feel my shoulders are relaxed, what is the next step? Now, what do I feel?"

Progressively Enter a Hypnotic State

Next, create your treasure hunt to create and shape a hypnotic state. You will have the sensation of following a path as if your body already knew the path of this internal exploration. Trust it. It is what comes naturally. After a while, you will feel that your thoughts are no longer useful. They only serve to guide you at the beginning, to channel your attention. You are naturally going deep into the experience. Just imagine that you let yourself be carried away by your sensations until you have the feeling of being "elsewhere," as in a deep reverie, but without having lost consciousness.

Simply guide yourself by thinking, each time seeking the next step and living it.

Here is an example of how to get into a state of hypnosis:

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. My shoulders and back muscles relax. I release them as much as possible. My breathing is slowing down. My hands are getting heavy, and they feel numb. I focus on this pleasant feeling; it amplifies when I focus on it. My legs are getting heavy, and my body seems to be warming up. I begin to pay attention to all the sensations. The ground presses against my feet. I can feel the slight movement of air against my skin from the ceiling fan above me. I can hear the wind outside the window.

The exercise is successful when you feel great mental fluidity and a particularly powerful state of comfort and well-being.
